yourself together; It’s hard to understand that it’s a three-piece group
with enough sound to feed a family. To The Moon is instrumental
retreat that keeps you awaiting for words to explain the complicated
compilation that’s oddly understood; with a sound that’s a bit ahead
of its time and aquatic notes that float to space. To The Moon uses
fluctuating tempos that switch just when your ears become adjusted
and it’s spontaneity that will leave you waiting for more... “stay tuned

It was a cold, windy, January afternoon in 2003 when To The Moon
began creating music together. This was a different kind of day,
change was in the air. As Chris & Ryan waited in the front room of the
Hour Haus Studios looking out the window for the guitarist to come
and audition, a spontaneous photo shoot began out front. There was
a scantily clad lady of hip-hop that was getting her picture taken in
front of the graffiti mural on our building. They walked outside to
check it out when a young man with a guitar case came down the
sidewalk and introduced himself as Alex. They stood outside talking
and marveled at the the model MC standing barely naked in the cold
before going upstairs into their warm jam room. shaking off the cold,
and letting the music start to flow. As they jammed, a new sound
started to surface...a mix of drum-n-bass, with guitar added...trip-hop,
rock, funk and jazz. A decision was made to try and find a female
singer, but after many auditions and interesting jam sessions it was
decreed that To The Moon stood alone as an instrumental trio, and
the lineup remained Chris, Ryan and Alex. Following on high profile
regional shows at Recher Theatre, 8x10, Fletchers, Ottobar, SoWeBo
Fest, PowWow, CBGB, Metro Gallery, Hour Haus, Sonar, Avalon
Skatepark, live on WTMD 89.7 FM, 13th Floor, Lo-Fi Social Club,
Frasiers, WRGW (GWU) (onair), Baltimore Music Conference, the band
released its debut CD, Charmony.
